New campaign highlights the importance of COVID-19 vaccinations among older adults in Colorado
DENVER (KRDO) -- A new campaign has launched by the Colorado Association of Area Agencies on Aging to highlight the importance of COVID-19 vaccinations among older adults in Colorado.
“Vaccinations, and boosters, continue to be a crucial tool for older Coloradans to protect themselves from serious COVID-19 infections,” said Erin Fisher, c4a Chair. “This campaign is a positive reminder that older adults have a number of local resources at their disposal to help them stay protected and find support to live and thrive in their home and community.”
Older adults are prone to the highest risk to develop serious COVID-19 cases that require hospitalization. Coloradans who are in the 50 and older age bracket are eligible for a fourth and fifth dose of COVID-19 vaccines. People ages 65 and older are recommended to get the additional booster doses to maintain extra protection.
“We know from speaking with older adults on a regular basis that there may be some hesitation to getting the first vaccine or additional doses,” said Fisher. “There is a lot of information out there and so it’s important to have a conversation with a medical professional you know and trust to find out what is right for you and your loved ones.”
Local Area Agencies help older adults and caregivers access resources within Colorado to customized to their individual needs.
