Bridge maintenance begins on CO-16, US 24 in Colorado Springs

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- A preventative bridge maintenance is set to begin on Monday, June 13. The maintenance work is a partnership with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), prime contractor Myers, and Sons Construction.
Crews will work along three highways during the maintenance: Interstate 25, Colorado Highway 16, and US Highway 24 in Colorado Springs.
The first maintenance phase will start on Interstate 25 at the bridge over South Tejon Street and South Nevada Ave.
In July, crews will then move to the railroad bridge on CO-16 over US 85. Work will end at the US 24 bridge over 31st Street.
The project will primarily focus on bridge deck repairs, concrete overlays, and resin overlays at each bridge location. Both northbound and southbound lanes will have maintenance work done throughout the project duration.
Crews are expected to work throughout the night from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Sunday through Friday.
There will be double lane closures throughout the entirety of the project. At least one through-lane will be open to traffic at all times.
The project is expected to last until the end of September.
