Call for artists to add installations to public areas of Manitou Springs

KRDO

MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Manitou Springs is putting out a call to artists hoping to add more pizazz to an already creative community through art installations.

The new art installations are thanks to CReative AlliaNcE Manitou Springs, also known as CRANE.

Artists will have the chance to decorate Beckers Lane bridge and at least two more sculptural works are needed in the eastern commercial district of Manitou.

CRANE  plans to announce more locations later this month. Local and national artists are welcome to submit their original artwork, but CRANE  will waive the application fee for artists living or working here in the community.

“We really do want local representation and we want to support the creatives who live here. so if you're a local artist, who does large work, I think it's just such a great opportunity to showcase it and it's permanent. so it will be here, you know, for years and years to come” said Audrey Gray, vice-chair of creative alliance manitou springs.

The budgets for these specific projects range from $35,000 to $40,000. Eventually, CRANE plans to spend more than $100,000 on the installations. Funding comes from the Manitou Springs Urban Renewal Authority.

Applications are due Friday, April 22. Click here for more information.
