Fort Carson remembers Fallen Soldiers in honor of Memorial Day

FORT CARSON, Colo. (KRDO) - Thursday morning, Fort Carson paid tribute to 407 soldiers who lost their lives while deployed from the installation in a ceremony at the Mountain Post Warrior Memorial.

Maj. Gen. Matthew W. McFarlane, the 4th Infantry Division and Fort Carson commanding general, was this year's keynote speaker.

Since 2004, Fort Carson has honored the lives of Soldiers from the Mountain Post who have lost their lives in battle overseas. The names of two soldiers joined the 405 names of soldiers already engraved.

The two Soldiers who both died in 2019 were Master Sgt. Micheal B. Riley, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and Sgt. Maj. James G. Sartor, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne).

Names of two fallen soldiers added to the Mountain Post Warrior Memorial, and presented Thursday morning.

The annual ceremony was not held in 2020 due to COVID-19 precautions.
