Colorado College honors graduating class at Weidner Field Sunday
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Colorado College honored the Class of 2021 during an in-person Commencement ceremony at the new Weidner Field in downtown Colorado Springs on Sunday.
The ceremony was originally planned for 9 a.m., but due to weather conditions, it was delayed an hour.
Many other colleges across the country were forced to hold remote ceremonies due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
"Our students say that a lot of their friends at other colleges were not able to have in person commencements. So, they're super grateful that we were able to make this happen," Vice President of Communications, Jane Turnis said.
Former CC President Jill Tiefenthaler, now CEO of the National Geographic Society, delivered the Commencement address and received an honorary degree. Around 460 Bachelor of Arts degrees were awarded at the ceremony, which concludes CC’s 147th academic year.
