Driver arrested after crashing into motorcycle in Pueblo, killing 1

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- A 34-year-old man from Pueblo is facing multiple charges after a suspected DUI crash left a motorcyclist dead early Friday morning.

The crash happened at about 2:20 a.m. near W. Pueblo Boulevard and Lake Avenue. Pueblo Police say Shawn Kiefer was driving his SUV east on Pueblo Boulevard when he crashed into a motorcycle from behind as it slowed to approach a turn.

According to PPD, officers found the motorcycle and the two victims lying on Pueblo Boulevard before they were taken to the hospital. Officers also found Kiefer's SUV in a nearby convenience store parking lot with severe damage after the crash.

The driver of the motorcycle was taken to a hospital but died from his injuries. A female passenger on the motorcycle was injured but is expected to survive. The victims weren't identified by Pueblo Police.

Kiefer is facing charges of driving under the influence, vehicular homicide, and vehicular assault, according to Pueblo Police.
