PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- Early Sunday morning, Tom Rummel, with the Pueblo Police Department tweeted that a man was on the front perch of someone's home and wouldn't leave. Officers Kasey Hegler and Hector Herrera were called to the home just before 4:00 a.m., on W. 15th Street in Pueblo.

When the officers arrived, the man began running around the house. As more officers got there, the man got on the roof at one point and jumped back down. Officers with the Pueblo Police Department say they could see something shiny in his hand, which they believed to be a knife.

Officer Hector Herrera tased the man, and subsequently got the trespasser into custody. Later, it was found that the object was a piece of silverware.

PPD reports, "The male was obviously in some type of mental distress, so he was transported to the hospital. Once there, however, he escaped from his treatment room while still wearing handcuffs. Fortunately, hospital security found him before he got outside."

Police say he’s currently at the hospital for evaluation.
