Trump supporters protest in Colorado Springs amid election fraud claims
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - Amid countless claims of election fraud by President Donald Trump, his supporters held a protest in Colorado Springs Saturday.
A procession started at the Cabella's store in Lone Tree, CO at 10:00 a.m. Participants then drove I-25 to Colorado Springs. They ended up meeting outside City Hall around noon.
Joe Biden is now projected to be the next President of the United States.
People taking part in Saturday's protest stayed peaceful for the most part. There were some confrontations, but no reported injuries.
Conservatives echoed President Trump, saying Democrats cheated their way to victory, in part, due to mail in voting.
"Trump was ahead and then all of a sudden by 3:00, 4:00 in the morning, there were a whole bunch of ballots that came with 96 or more percent for Biden," said Kristine Heffner. "Does that sound like fraud to you? It does to me."
Meanwhile, counter protesters called the Trump supporters "sore losers."
"It's not election fraud baby, the truth came out," Kierra Cleveland said.
"All these people out here saying there's no conspiracy or anything like that are the same people who said Russia interfered with the election in 2016," argued Sebastian Tamayo.
Trump supporters told KRDO why they voted for the sitting president.
"I'm standing for the constitution, I'm standing for the babies, I'm standing for the first and second amendment, that's what I'm standing for and he stands for that," explained Diane Lopes. "that's why I love Trump."
However, counter protesters argued you can't nitpick what you like about a candidate -- saying he's done plenty wrong.
"You can stand up for what you think is right, but we know with the policies and the word Trump has put out, it's not right," said Bondar.
Regardless their side -- red or blue -- people at Saturday's protest said they believe in democracy, and they believe this will all be sorted out.
"We do have the best country in the world, and it's going to work out," assured Drevis Ridley. "it's all going to work out fine."
