LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Cameron Peak Fire is closer to being fully contained by fire crews after months of effort; Wednesday, the incident command center reported it was 92% contained.

The Cameron Peak Fire is the largest recorded wildfire in Colorado's history, and it has burned just shy of 209,000 acres of land.

A band of snowfall that fell on the area early last week helped slow the growth of the fire, and it let firefighters build out more of a containment line.

All evacuations were lifted on Monday.

Tuesday, fire crews used helicopters to drop fire retardant on hot spots, and firefighters continued to secure those containment lines. About 1,100 personnel are working on the fire.
