El Paso County Sheriff’s Office reports COVID-19 outbreak
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- At least eight employees of the El Paso County Sheriff's Office have tested positive for COVID-19 in recent weeks, the agency announced on Monday.
The positive tests were all reported within the past three weeks, and it includes staffers assigned to "Court and Transport, Floor Security, Patrol, Tactical Support Unit, and the Communications Center," according to EPCSO.
EPCSO says two of the deputies worked at the courthouse, which constitutes an outbreak according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. None of the deputies have been publicly identified, but the sheriff's office says "all of the affected personnel have been contacted and have either recovered and returned to work or are recovering and doing well."
Since testing for COVID-19 began, the sheriff's office has had 19 employees and three inmates test positive for COVID-19.
