WOODLAND PARK, Colo. (KRDO) -- Last night the Woodland Park School District Re-2 Board of Education placed Superintendent Steve Woolf on paid administrative leave pending an external investigation.

In his absence, Assistant Superintendent Linda Murray will be the Interim Superintendent.

According to a Teller County Sheriff's Office Deputy Report, Steve Woolf was cited for a DUI on Friday, August 28th. The incident happened near Divide, where a deputy was dispatched to a single-vehicle traffic accident.

After arriving, the Teller County deputy states that he noticed Woolf's eyes were bloodshot and that he had a smell of alcohol coming from his breath. The Sherrif's deputy also observed him stumbling while walking and slurring his words. After these observations, Woolf was asked to hand over his driver's license and perform voluntary roadside maneuvers.

After completing a voluntary roadside test, the Sherrif's deputy observed "six clues," then detained Woolf on suspicion of driving under the influence. Woolf was placed in handcuffs and brought to the Teller County jail for a breathalyzer test.

Woolf provided two breath samples, yielding a final BrAC of .114. The legal limit in Colorado .08.

Following the pending investigation, the Woodland Park Superintendent has been placed on paid administrative leave.
