Pueblo’s mayor responds to vandalized Christopher Columbus statue

PUEBLO, Colorado (KRDO) -- Early Sunday morning, Pueblo Police responded to reports that the controversial Christopher Columbus statue located in the Mesa Junction area, had been vandalized.

At 12:45 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, Pueblo's Mayor, Nick Gradisar addressed the vandalism of the statue, saying “In Pueblo, we work through our solutions peacefully so it is unfortunate the Columbus statue was vandalized last night." Gradisar said he is committed to allowing both sides of the controversial issue "to work through mediation, to reach an agreement."
