Fort Carson soldier arrested for felony menacing and disorderly conduct

FOUNTAIN, Colo. (KRDO) —  Fort Carson confirms it was one of its active duty soldiers, Morgan Ryker, arrested Monday on charges of felony menacing and misdemeanor disorderly conduct with a weapon.

The charges stem from an altercation with his neighbors, the Cox family in Fountain. The family claims Ryker confronted them with a gun more than once. They believe it has a lot to do with the fact that they’re Black. Ryker's charges don't reflect that.

KRDO first reported on the Cox family in July, when one of Ryker’s friends, John Barclay, was charged for allegedly yelling the n-word at the family.

KRDO visited Ryker’s home in Fountain to get his side of the story after he was released from jail. He wanted to talk to his attorney before doing an on-camera interview, but told us the accusations against him are false. Ryker says he’s not racist, pointing out that his wife is Hispanic and a first generation American.

Newschannel 13 also requested the affidavit to get a better idea of the charges Ryker faces, as well as his army service record. Those documents were not provided by the time of the 10:00 broadcast.
