Colorado governor extends eviction notice order to 30 days
DENVER - Democratic Gov. Jared Polis has extended an executive order requiring property owners in Colorado to give tenants a 30-day notice before pursuing evictions as many individuals struggle to make payments during the pandemic.
Some tenants have continued to experience substantial loss of income as a result of business closures and layoffs caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Previously, property owners would only give a 10-days notice.
The Denver Post reported that Polis announced the extension Monday, hours before it was set to expire.
It is now set to expire in a month.
Some advocates and Democratic lawmakers have argued that Polis should temporarily ban evictions. His order does not prevent evictions.Â
