Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo laying off 22 staffers due to financial impact of COVID-19
PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- While the COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing, one of southern Colorado's medical systems is laying off more than 20 staffers because of the financial impacts of the virus.
A statement sent to KRDO Monday confirmed that Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo is reducing staffing by 22 positions -- it's not clear which positions have been eliminated, and we're still awaiting an answer from Parkview.
While it's not clear if any medical technicians, nurses, or doctors were let go, a spokesperson with Parkview said "exceptional patient care has not been affected and remains our highest priority."
For perspective, Parkview does employ about 3,200 people, but the fact that staffing is being reduced indicates that the medical system is facing hardships due to the coronavirus pandemic.
This is a developing story, check back for updates.
