More than 2 dozen homes ordered to evacuate in SW Colorado fire

DENVER (AP) - A lightning-caused wildfire in southwestern Colorado has led to the evacuation of more than two dozen homes and the closure of a highway.

The fire started Saturday and is burning on private and U.S. Bureau of Land Management land about 20 miles west of Durango.

Officials say mandatory evacuation orders are in place for 23 homes in two subdivisions, plus more homes on Cherry Creek Road.

Authorities have closed U.S. Highway 160 between Hesperus and Mancos because of the fire.
