Crews respond to three-alarm fire outside Goodwill Outlet on S. Academy

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Update: Eighty firefighters are working to put out the fire at the Goodwill Outlet Store on S. Academy.

According to Colorado Springs Fire Department Capt. Mike Smaldino, one firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. However, he said the firefighter was hurt on the way to the fire scene, and the injuries were not caused by the fire.

The fire is burning outside of the store in an area with pallets and donations. Crews will stay there for hours to continue to put out hotspots, according to Capt. Smaldino.
