DILLON, Colo. - The Arapahoe Basin Ski Area has announced that the mountain will close for the season because of a lack of snow.

The Summit Daily News reported that A-Basin Chief Operating Officer Alan Henceroth said Thursday the mountain will close Sunday less than two weeks after reopening following the coronavirus shutdown. Spokeswoman Katherine Fuller says early closures are not uncommon, and the dates can fluctuate but this year seems early after staying open until Independence Day last year.

The ski area reopened for 12 days with safety measures in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including limiting the number of skiers and snowboarders each day.
