The City of Colorado Springs said in a release Thursday that the city's 137 playgrounds will reopen June 5. Simultaneously, the City of Pueblo said that it too would be reopening its playgrounds on the same day. This is in accordance with new personal recreation guidance issued Thursday by the state health department, according to the release.

The release from Colorado Springs said there will be signage at the parks asked people to comply with the capacity recommendation and social distancing practices.

Colorado Springs asks that anyone who uses the playgrounds to follow the guidance below to minimize the spread of COVID-19:

  • Continue to physically distance, staying at least 6 feet from members of other households .
  • Stay home other than getting  tested if you are sick or have COVID-19 symptoms
  • Avoid recreating in public spaces if anyone in your household is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.
  • Encouraged to wear a mask while recreating.
  • Bring hand sanitizer to clean hands when soap and water is not available.

In Pueblo, the dog park, park shelters and gazebos will also be reopening June 5. Softball fields and the City Park Pool are scheduled to reopen June 15.
