Auto v. pedestrian incident involving protester in Colorado Springs under investigation

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- During the fifth consecutive evening of protests in downtown Colorado Springs, police responded to reported auto v. pedestrian incident.

A female protester was taken to the hospital and a male driver was taken into custody.

KRDO photojournalist Matt Swift was there to see the scene unfold immediately after the crash. [WARNING: Some viewers may find the video below disturbing.]

The incident remains under investigation and it's not yet clear what led up to the crash.

  1. Do they have a permit to be laying in the street? The law cannot budge an inch or it’s not law & order.

  2. If you are in the street. And preventing people from going home, to their families, from work, you deserve to be ran over.

  5. Peacefully protest does not mean physically attack the opposing side. Clearly these rioters are in the wrong here. If a driver is being attacked by a mob of rioters, the driver has every right to protect themselves.

  6. Impulse control is often an issue with this group. Lack of impulse control is often what leads to their initial contact with law enforcement.
