Dangerously hot weather for the weekend here in southern Colorado

Tonight we continue to see hazy conditions and smoky skies here in Southern Colorado. It will be on the breezy side with winds out of the southeast at around 10 to 15 mph. There is a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm, mainly in the Southern part of the state. Overnight lows will fall into the lower 60s.

Temperatures crank up for the weekend throughout Southern Colorado. A good portion of our viewing area will be under a Heat Advisory both Saturday and Sunday. Expect temperatures in the upper 90s here along the Pikes Peak Region, with temperatures in the low 100s out on the Eastern Plains. In addition to the heat, it will be on the dry side side.

Monday will bring another round of hot temperatures along with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Expect highs in the mid 90s.

A chance of showers and thunderstorms will stay in the forecast on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We will also see cooler temperatures as we head into the middle part of next week, with high in the mid to upper 80s. We will have to watch for the potential for heavy rain next week, and flash flooding.
