Rally in Pueblo Saturday protests police violence

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- A fatal shooting involving Pueblo County sheriff's deputies back in March left 20-year-old Jesse Cedillo dead. Now, his family and friends have organized a demonstration Saturday in Pueblo to protest his death and others like it.

Cedillo was suspected of carjacking and was shot shortly after 7 a.m. as deputies chased him through a Mesa Junction neighborhood. A video of the fatal encounter was captured by a witness.

Saturday, about 50 people showed up to protest the violence, some saying it was too extreme a show of force for the crime. But it wasn't just for Cedillo; protesters held signs with names of other people who have died while being apprehended by law enforcement officers.

Protesters met at noon at El Pueblo History Museum and are expected to peacefully march to the Pueblo Police Department.
