CSPD: Man arrested on suspicion of DUI after car crashes into light pole
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A driver is in custody and his passenger is in the hospital with serious injuries after their car crashed into a light pole Saturday evening.
Around 7:30 p.m., officers with Colorado Springs Police were called to the 3800 block of Airport Rd. for a single vehicle crash. At the scene, they learned a vehicle had hit a light pole, leaving the passenger behind at the scene with serious but not life threatening injuries. Meanwhile, the driver left the scene with the vehicle before police arrived.
Officers found the driver an hour and a half later when they were notified about a man trying to enter a locked business a few miles away. Police contacted the suspect, later identified as 22-year-old Travis Barrett, and confirmed he was the driver in the crash.
Barrett was taken into custody on a number of traffic related offenses including DUI.
