Suspect injured in officer-involved shooting in Park County

PARK COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a pair of Teller County deputies were involved in a shooting Friday night, injuring the suspect.

The shooting happened just before 9 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 94 and Trail Creek Road outside of Lake George. That's where deputies say they came across a man who matched the description of a suspect wanted for felony menacing.

That man reportedly took out a handgun and pointed it at the deputies. When he refused to comply with commands to drop the gun, one deputy fired, stricking the suspect.

He was taken to the hospital but we don't know the extent of his injuries at this time.

The two deputies involved were placed on routine administrative leave.
