Police: 1 person dies after Friday night shooting at Memorial Park
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- In a sad update to a shooting Friday night, KRDO learned Saturday that one of those victims has since died.
The shooting was reported at Memorial Park around 8:30 p.m. Three people were shot in a drive-by during a vigil that was being held for a someone who had recently died.
The coroner has not made an official identification of the victim, but friends and family have confirmed 30-year-old Robert Lee Collins Jr passed away from the shooting.
Robert's wife Sirena Collins provided photos of her husband and their two children to KRDO.
"Robert so graciously allowed me to be a stay at home mom and was the sole provider for our family," Sirena said in a statement.
Friends of the Collins family have also made a online fundraiser on Facebook to support the widow and her two children.
No suspect or vehicle description has been released. Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact them at 444-7000.
