North Cheyenne Cañon Park to see temporary closures for maintenance
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The City of Colorado Springs says a popular recreation spot will be closed to visitors on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week and next.
North Cheyenne Cañon Park is closing for forestry and maintenance operations May 12-13 and 19-20 from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to the City.
The closures give workers time to remove dozens of dead and hazardous trees, according to a statement from the city. The work is meant to reduce the risk of dead trees falling and hurting someone.
"To safely conduct this work, it is important for all vehicles, cyclists and hikers to heed the closure. The main gate will remain closed and closure signs will be visible onsite," reads the statement in part.
Crews will also be performing maintenance on ditches and culverts along Gold Camp Road.
