Grass fire closes Highway 50 overnight east of Las Animas
BENT COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- A grass fire erupted just east of Las Animas early Saturday.
The Colorado State Patrol took this picture after fierce flames flared up along Highway 50 around 1 a.m.
CSP tells KRDO the highway was closed in both directions at mile marker 408 near Fort Lyon for about an hour and a half.
Drivers were asked to avoid the area while crews got the flames under control. No structures were damaged, according to CSP.
