Colorado Springs church hosts drive-thru parade for essential workers

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A church in Colorado Springs scheduled a special event today to thank essential workers: a drive-thru parade.
It happened Saturday afternoon in the parking lot of Vanguard Church.
About ten cars joined in on the show of gratitude towards janitors, truck drivers, cooks and several more workers we rely on. They drove around the parking lot three times, honking their horns and displaying signs. The organizers say they were inspired by other shows of support in cities that have also been affected by the coronavirus.
"They had a helicopter go across New York City and in the video you could actually hear everybody hollering, pots and pans banging, and it was fun," said organizer Deb Guida. "I thought 'We're a smaller city. Why not us?'"
And of course everyone was able to stay in their vehicles to practice social distancing.
