Denver to extend stay-at-home order until May 8, state order to expire April 26

DENVER, Colo. (KRDO) -- The city of Denver will be extending its stay-at-home order until at least May 8, confirmed our news partners at 9News.

Denver Mayor Michael Hancock is expected to make the formal announcement Friday morning, according to 9News.

This comes after Gov. Jared Polis announced the state's stay-at-home order would expire April 26 and on Monday move into a more relaxed "safer at home" plan.

It remains to be seen whether other counties in the Denver metro area will make similar extensions.

“Lots of ongoing discussions among Denver metro area public health officials about the need to extend the ‘stay-at-home’ order for up to two weeks longer,” said Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman in a Twitter post on Thursday.
