COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) — The City of Colorado Springs is celebrating Earth Day by planting trees in Monument Valley Park.

According to a post on Facebook, Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services planted 18 trees Wednesday morning.

The trees were paid for by voter-approved ballot measure 2B, which allowed the City to maintain $7 million of excess 2018 TABOR revenue to be used exclusively for City parks, sports and cultural facilities and trail improvements.

If you’re planning to plant a tree this spring, you can add it to the city’s Tree Tracker and help it reach the goal of planting 18,071 new trees by Colorado Springs’ 150th anniversary next year.
