Buena Vista man arrested after kidnapping a 13-year-old girl

CHAFFEE COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- A man is facing multiple charges related to kidnapping a teenager from her home in Moffat, Colorado.

His arrest Friday comes after a 13-year-old girl was reported missing from her house on Feb. 16, says the Chaffee County Sheriff's Office. The following day, a passerby noticed a girl who fit her description at the Poncha Springs Visitors Center.

Deputies responded to that location and confirmed that the individual was the missing girl. The Sheriff's office opened an investigation which ultimately led to the arrest of 34-year-old Jason Andrew Harter of Buena Vista.

Harter is facing three felony charges of second degree kidnapping, sex assault and enticement of a child, as well as misdemeanor child abuse.

The Sheriff's office says that Harter remains in custody without bond.
