Tracking widespread storm and flooding chances

KRDO

We do have a Flood Watch in effect for all areas of southern Colorado until 12 p.m. on Thursday. That means we will see periods of heavy rain, which could lead to flash flooding over the next 2 days. We have deep tropical moisture from the remnants of Hurricane Polo combining with an upper-level low-pressure system off to the west of us that is helping draw in plenty of moisture.

Tonight we will see mostly cloudy skies with an increasing chance of showers and thunderstorms. Expect heavy rain to start moving in during the late evening and into the early hours of Wednesday. Some of the storms may produce heavy rain. Overnight lows will drop into the lower 50s.

Wednesday will bring widespread showers and thunderstorms pretty much all throughout the day. We could see several inches of rain in some spots, and we will have to watch the Aspen burn scar area for the possibility of Flash Flooding. Highs will be on the cool side, right around 60.

Thursday will bring us a good chance of showers early in the day, but we start to dry out in the afternoon and evening hours. It will be on the windy side with northwest winds at around 20 to 30 mph.

Drier weather settles in on Friday and right through the weekend. Expect highs in the low to mid 70s.
