PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- Police say that two victims were transported to a hospital with serious injuries after they were assaulted by their son Friday morning.

Around 9:35 a.m. officers responded to a family disturbance in the 2600 block of Azalea.

At the scene, police were able to speak with the two victims and learned that they had been seriously assaulted by their son, who had beat them with a piece of furniture.

The suspect, 35-year-old Michael Dominguez, had barricaded himself inside the home. However, he soon surrendered without incident, police say.

He was taken into custody on two counts of second degree assault, according to police.
