Former El Paso County Deputy Quinlan Linebaugh will serve a 60-day jail sentence with work release after causing a crash last year near Falcon that claimed two lives.

Linebaugh was sentenced Thursday after being found guilty of two counts of careless driving resulting in death and two counts of careless driving resulting in injury this September. The crash happened on July 24, 2018, just outside of Falcon.

According to testimony during the trial, Linebaugh was driving his Chevy Impala and tried to pass a vehicle when he clipped an oncoming vehicle and caused the crash.

Kenneth and Dorothy Wuerfele of Peyton were killed in the crash. Eleazar Velasquez of Denver and James Stutsman of Idaho Springs were injured in the crash.

Linebaugh has since been terminated from the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, and he currently works at a local hospital.

Linebaugh was also sentenced to four years of probation and 500 hours of community service.
