3 civilians, 1 officer dead after New Jersey gun battle
JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- Officials say that a New Jersey police officer and three civilians are dead after a gun battle that lasted more than an hour.
The shooting was believed to have been prompted by a drug deal gone bad, reported ABC News.
Two suspects allegedly shot and killed the officer at the Bay View Cemetery before they fled to a Jewish supermarket at Wilkinson Avenue and Martin Luther King Drive, police said.
When officers arrived at the second location, the suspects then opened fire with long guns, says ABC News.
Three civilians were killed inside of the supermarket, officials said. The officer was transported to a local hospital and later died.
Police say that both suspects were found dead inside the supermarket, according to ABC News.
Two other officers and one other civilian were shot, but are in stable condition according to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.
