Celebration of Life event held for Kelsey Berreth in Woodland Park
WOODLAND PARK, Colo.-- A small group gathered to pray and remember Kelsey Berreth at Woodland Park 7th Day Adventist church.
Many attending didn't know Kelsey personally but Pastor Michael Warren who spoke at the celebration of life ceremony says it's something everyone has heard about.
"It has still just been so tremendously impacting and so sad," Warren says, "but I am so thankful to have the hope that we do and to know that she had that same hope."
Listening to the words of pastor Warren, brought tears to the eyes of many. Knowing how Kelsey was brutally murdered in her home. Jennifer Hunt who attended the event says, "I couldn't help but think of what her family what her parents are going through and her daughter having to grow up with out her mom. It's just heartbreaking."
Saturday also brought each person closer together. For as much as this was about remembering Kelsey, it was also about the community trying to find a way to regain a sense of normalcy in their town from a story that took over.
Joy Ward says, "I think today was the beginning of the healing process. People came together in love and fellowship."
Many hoping that after this, everyone will think of Kelsey as a wonderful mother who was loved by her family and friends and not the tragedy that ended her life. "I think it's important remember her and her life rather than to focus on how she was lost to us," Hunt says.
On Friday, a candlelight vigil was also held for Kelsey at Memorial Park.
