Canon City’s Skyline Drive could be closed at night after recent vandalism
The Canon City Police Department says nighttime closures may be reinstated on the town's scenic Skyline Drive after some rocks were vandalized by people memorializing a teen who recently passed away.
Skyline Drive, which runs along Highway 50 just northwest of Canon City, is famous for its snaking path along an elevated ridge, which provides good views east of Canon City and Fremont County.
But CCPD says that "sometime during the week of Nov. 11" the road and some rocks were vandalized. The graffiti was meant to "memorialize" 19-year-old Kyle Hoffman, who died on Nov. 9.

Another image posted by CCPD showed graffiti that one commenter said has been in place since the summer.
CCPD says "this criminal act has authorities considering reinstating a night closure of the road." No decision on that has been made at this time.
If you have information on who may have spray painted the areas, call CCPD or the Fremont County Sheriff's Office.
