A 28-year-old man in Pueblo is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop led to police discovering black tar heroin in a pocket in his small dog's coat.

Pueblo police say an officer found a vehicle driving without a front license plate near Prairie and Lakeview avenues last Saturday, and he made the traffic stop.

The driver first gave a false name, according to Pueblo police, but he was identified as Aaron Brown, and he had several active arrest warrants.

When Brown was pulled over, a small dog jumped out of his vehicle, and Brown picked him up and held him until he was taken into custody, according to Pueblo police. When animal law enforcement showed up, the PPD corporal felt "some sort of container in a pouch on the dog's jacket."

The corporal pulled out the container, and it had black tar heroin inside, PPD said in a report.

Brown was booked for multiple warrants, in addition to possession of a controlled substance, violation of protection order, driving with a revoked license, misuse of license plates, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
