Two arrested after stealing car and motorcycle in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Two people have been arrested after allegedly stealing a car and motorcycle late Wednesday night.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), on August 22, officers took a report of a green Ford Explorer that had been stolen from the 6100 block of Castlewood Lane. CSPD says there were two firearms inside the car at the time.

On Wednesday, detectives with the Motor Vehicle Theft Unit found the stolen car being driven by 29-year-old Aubree Maes. Maes had dropped off a passenger, 28-year-old Luis Aldrete in the 6900 block of Alpine Current View.

That is when CSPD says Aldrete stole a Kawasaki motorcycle and followed Maes to the 1000 block of Montrose Avenue. According to CSPD, a grappler device was used on the stolen car Maes was driving and it was stopped.

She exited the car and tried to run, but was taken into custody. CSPD says Aldrete fell off the motorcycle while it was stationary and tried to run but was also taken into custody.

Detectives say they found a loaded un-serialized nine millimeter handgun on Aldrete.

Both Aldrete and Maes were charged with two counts of motor vehicle theft and obstruction. Aldrete was also charged with unlawfully concealing a weapon, according to CSPD.
