TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Organizers say a man slashed a Baby Trump protest balloon during President Donald Trump's trip to Alabama.

The incident occurred Saturday during Trump's visit to watch the University of Alabama football game. The towering Baby Trump balloon was set up in a nearby park.

Jim Girvan is an organizer of the balloon protests. He says someone charged the balloon with a knife and cut an 8-foot-long (2.4-meter-long) gash in the back. Girvan said the unidentified man was arrested. Tuscaloosa police did not immediately respond to a request for more details.

The orange diaper-clad caricature of the president is often taken to Trump appearances as a way to protest him.

Volunteer Robert Kennedy says the balloon immediately began to sag after it was cut.

  1. So is slashing the Trump balloon a pro Trump act or an anti Trump act? When you’re act of protest is this ambiguous its probably not worth being arrested over.

    1. My guess would be that the slashing was a pro-Trump act. Whether or not this was a pro- or anti-Trump act is immaterial and a red herring. What is actionable is the fact that this individual deliberately destroyed private property and therefor was arrested for destruction of private property, and quite possibly also vandalism.

    2. If it was me I would have stood off at a distance and shoot darts at it or perhaps arrows. HA! HA! 🙂 Just joking I am not in to damaging someone else property. No matter if I disagree with them or not. Like you said not worth getting arrested over.

  2. “Girvan said the unidentified man was arrested.”

If he was arrested then why is he unidentified?
