The School Buzz: Colorado Springs JH girls cross country team moves up class, wins State

The Classical Academy Junior High girls cross country team showed up at the State meet last week and ran away with a title.

The middle school varsity girls and JV girls won it all, winning the State cross-country championship in the Blue division, which is 4A and 5A schools. Ellie Askew led the team with a time of 14:26 (6:39 per mile).

Melanie Brim is their coach. She said, “ Teamwork was the name of the game for this cross country meet… Normally, the Classical Academy would compete in the Red Division (2A/3A level)  but chose to compete 'up' to the Blue Division (4A/5A level). [The] high competition made the victory even sweeter!”

Also, a huge shoutout to the middle school boys – their varsity team finished 3rd and the JV boys finished 2nd in the state.
