Pueblo officers pool funds to help family living out of their car
PUEBLO, Colo. -- The Pueblo Police Department is sharing a touching story of generosity after some of their officers helped a family in need Wednesday morning.
The mother was working at a local restaurant, waiting to get paid. The father was sitting in their car in the parking lot, watching the children.
When Pueblo officers came across the family, the mother explained that her family has nowhere to go and no means to rent a room until her paycheck comes through.
Together, Officers Johnathan Vicars, Bryan Gonzales, Lowell Griffiths, Devon Dawson, Christina Marroquin, and A/Captain Dan Rutherford along with Chaplain Cox assembled enough funds to rent a room for the family until after Christmas.
"It warms our hearts to be able to share with our community the generosity of our officers and Chaplain Cox early this morning," the department said in a tweet.
The officers and Chaplain also gave the family funds to buy groceries and arranged breakfast this morning from a local restaurant.
