Deck contractors profiled by 13 Investigates face new theft charges

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Kevin McGee and Ken Peterson are facing more felony theft charges after deputies say the pair stole more than $20,000 from an at-risk elderly man and his wife after being hired to build them a deck.

13 Investigates started its months-long investigation into McGee and Peterson in 2019 when five families reported $164,000 in losses after hiring "Decks R Us" to construct a new deck.

McGee and Peterson, who owned "Decks R Us," were arrested last year on felony theft charges after two families reported them to police.

In October 2019, the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department revoked their license following multiple complaints and code violations. The pair tried to get their license back but were denied by the building department in November 2019.

McGee and Peterson will be back in court in June for a preliminary hearing.
