COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Investigators with the Colorado Springs Police Department say that the elderly couple who was found dead near a trailhead this past weekend had agreed to end their lives together.

We reported when the two people were discovered on Saturday near the Edmundson trail head. They had died from gunshot wounds, and police said no suspects were wanted.

CSPD identified the two deceased people as 72-year-old Stella Vigil and 73-year-old Leroy Vigil, both of New Mexico. Police say Leroy killed Stella before completing suicide.

According to an update from CSPD on Tuesday, detectives said they obtained evidence that "supported an agreement between Mr. and Mrs. Vigil to end their lives together."
