AURORA, Colo. (KRDO) — There's a marsupial on the loose here in Colorado. The town of Aurora had an unexpected visitor -- an Australian wallaby.

The wallaby, named Surprise, went missing two weeks ago from the Zoology Foundation Sanctuary in Larkspur.

Tuesday morning was the first surprise sighting since his escape. He was spotted in the East Quincy Highlands some 40 miles from home.

Elys Torres reported the sighting to the sanctuary after seeing a post on a neighborhood Facebook page.

“One of the neighbors said they had saw a kangaroo on their walk," Torres said. “I call my mom and told her apparently there's a kangaroo in our neighborhood. She said somebody had actually lost a wallaby."

The Zoology Foundation is still searching for Surprise. If you happen to see him, call The Zoology Foundation at 303-951-8813 so their team can come get him.
