A 72-year-old woman has turned her old hobby into a way to give back.

Ricky Konshak told KRDO she starting crocheting again during her time at the Brookdale Skyline senior living center because she got bored of watching TV during her downtime.

It didn’t take long for Konshak to realize she could use her talent to help others.

She started designing and creating Barbie doll dresses around a year ago, and has since made more than a thousand.

“I got obsessed. I hate to say that, but I think I got obsessed. I have to massage my forearms because they start getting sore," Konshak said.

KRDO crews were there Monday afternoon as Konshak dropped the load off at Christmas Unlimited.

The dresses will be distributed to children in need all across the Pikes Peak region this holiday season.
