Man linked to three bank robberies in Colorado Springs dies by suspected suicide

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) is releasing information about the suspect in three bank robberies yesterday afternoon.

According to CSPD, its robbery unit along with investigative units and the FBI worked together to review video surveillance, Axon Lightpost cameras and ALPR cameras, as well as witness accounts, to develop a suspect identity and vehicle.

CSPD says that information led CSPD to 27-year-old Terrell Jennings.

At that point, CSPD says they established probable cause to arrest him for multiple criminal offenses including second-degree kidnapping, aggravated robbery and menacing.

CSPD then worked with the FBI to start fugitive apprehension efforts, according to officials.

Around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, CSPD says they were notified of a deceased individual in the 2200 block of Lower Gold Camp Road. CSPD responded and found a vehicle matching the description with a male matching Jennings' physical and clothing descriptions nearby.

CSPD investigators say they believed the man was Jennings and had suffered from a gunshot would they say appeared to be self-inflicted.

The El Paso County Coroner's Office responded to the scene and was able to positively identify the deceased individual as Jennings on Friday. Officials say they are still investigating the cause of death, but it is currently being identified as a suicide.

CSPD says the investigation into the robberies remains active and ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact CSPD.
