Auto thefts fall nearly 40% in latest Pueblo Police Department crime statistics

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Pueblo Police Department (PPD) released new crime stats that looked at both weekly and yearly levels for certain crimes, including homicide and robbery.

According to officials, there were nine homicides at this time in 2025. This year, there have been 11, a 22% increase. PPD says it has seen sexual assault crimes drop almost 5%, and aggravated assaults are down 10%.

They say their total crimes against persons numbers are down 8%. Across the board, PPD says its property crime rates are down 10%.

Compared to the first eight months of 2025, robberies are down 8% and burglaries are down 22%. Auto thefts saw the biggest drop, down almost 40%.

The department also released a comparison of shootings from this year to last year. In the breakdown, PPD says shootings are up by 28%. But the entire category, which also includes drive-by shootings and homicides, is down 13%, with 152 reported this year.

PPD also included a weekly breakdown of calls for service, which showed parking enforcement calls were down over 40%, and traffic calls were up 4%.
