PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- A former Pueblo police officer will serve 90 days in jail and five years of probation after being sentenced on three counts of sexual exploitation of a child, according to the 4th Judicial District.

In January 2025, the Pueblo Police Department (PPD) was notified that Officer Gerardo Mejia was under investigation and that an arrest warrant had been obtained. Hours later, police said Mejia was arrested and subsequently tendered his resignation.

Mejia had been with the department for two years before his arrest, PPD said.

According to officials, Mejia was sentenced to five years of Sex Offender Intensive Supervised Probation on each of the three counts, which will run concurrently. He was also sentenced to 90 days in jail and 250 hours of community service.
