El Paso County deputy charged with unlawful sexual contact resigns

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- An El Paso County Sheriff's deputy was placed on administrative leave and later sent a notice to terminate employment after being arrested for inappropriately touching a female at a business.

According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO), 34-year-old Christopher Ramirez was arrested and booked into the El Paso County Jail on July 14.

EPSO notified KRDO13 on July 23 that Ramirez was served with a Notice of Intent to Terminate Employment, and shortly after, Ramirez submitted his resignation.

Officials say the reporting party stated Ramirez had entered a business in the 6800 block of Fountain Mesa Road in unincorporated El Paso County and inappropriately touched an adult female before leaving the scene. EPSO says the victim did not know Ramirez.

According to arrest records obtained by KRDO13, the woman responded by punching Ramirez in the face twice.

The cashier witnessed the altercation and kicked Ramirez and his two friends out of the store, according to arrest records.

Deputies later identified and located Ramirez, and he was taken into custody, according to EPSO. Ramirez was released on July 15 on a personal recognizance bond following an advisement hearing.

Ramirez has been charged with unlawful sexual contact, EPSO says.

KRDO13 spoke to Ramirez over the phone, and he said he denies the allegations made against him and is trying to get the charge dismissed.

Ramirez had been a deputy with EPSO since November of 2024 and was assigned to the Detention Security Division, according to officials.
